Look What They've Become

Working with Become to secure my current role at Innocent as Head of Design was a pleasure. The entire process ran seamlessly and not only were Sian and Jim instrumental in arranging the interviews and liaising directly with Innocent on my behalf, they were hugely supportive throughout. Both Sian and Jim were fully in tune with my professional requirements and only contacted me with roles that were inline with the direction I wanted to forward my career.
I thoroughly recommend Become and although I now hope I dont have to contact them for a while, I will certainly stay in touch and Sian and Jim will be the first people I contact if I need a consultant in the future.

I’d initially been introduced to Become when they were previously known as creative people, working out of a little office in Manchester in 2005. I’d just returned back to the UK from a 12 month round the world trip and didn’t really know what the market was like, so thought I’d freelance for while to see what roles were out there. 2 years later I made the decision to move to Sydney for good and heard that Sam from the Manchester office had relocated to sunny Australia so launch the Become office in Sydney.
I arrived in Sydney not knowing much about the market, but hoping Sam could help me out. My skill set was fairly broad so I was looking for an agency, that could match both my ambition and my creative way of thinking. Then Sam introduced me to The Saltmine Design Group. It was a new agency that was only 12 months old had 3 staff, but the way Sam described their passion and determination to do things differently appealed to me straight away.
I was hired as a Senior Designer, and three years later I’m still here. Now promoted to the role of Design Director, we have a team of 12 and now work with some of the worlds biggest FMCG brands including Eclipse Mints, 5 Gum, Nestlé Purina Pet Foods, Starburst and Skyy Vodka.
If it wasn’t for become I wouldn’t have ever found what I consider to be the best job I’ve ever had. Even today, our relationship with Become continues, with most of our creative staff being recruited through Become.

After applying to over 10 recruitment agencies, without any bites, I went in to see 'become' (formerly macpeople), Adele, my point of contact, told me that the Market was picking up after the GFC (Nov 09 (I think), so after a couple of days, I got pretty regular work for 6 months at different agencies, which was great as I'd been out of work for 6 months, then came a long-term placement, which started week to week, then month to month. After 18 months, the company I was freelancing with asked me if I wanted a permanent position, which I accepted, without become, I wouldn't know where I am today, and can't thank them enough.
AThe staff never once treated me in any other way than part of their team, regular calls to make sure I was happy, invites to company gatherings, I can even call them all friends, even since I've left 'become', I still get emails, invites and calls from my friends there.

Coming from a non traditional Ad background Become actually took the time to help me sculpt my fashion background in way that would showcase me at my best and get me the chance I needed and in front of the best people.
Thanks to become I'm now working with the best people in the industry and also getting my team from them.
